Things Unseen
By Kayla
There was a young boy who was blind, and during the basketball event, I had the opportunity to help him get lined up with the basket. I positioned him as best I could, making sure he was facing the right direction. Then, it was his turn.
He took the shot.
For a moment, everything seemed to stand still.
And then—the ball went in.
The entire gymnasium erupted.
Nearly 2,000 people were on their feet, cheering, clapping, and celebrating what had just happened. But somehow, in the middle of all that noise, the moment felt incredibly personal. It wasn’t just a basketball going through a hoop. It was a young athlete accomplishing something that everyone in that gym had the privilege of witnessing.
